One of my favorite wedding planners, Aubrey Akana of Savoir Faire events Hawaii contacted me one day with a request to shoot a birthday party. Now I don't know if I've ever even shot a birthday party so obviously it's not my usual thing. She then elaborated that it was going to be her clien't's grandfather's 88th birthday........ I'm not really one to turn down shoots so I say okay why not. Now I went into this thing expecting probably the same thing as what you would be expecting. It wasn't assumed to be such a sophisticated stylish affair which, to my pleasant surprise, is exactly what it turned out to be. The even't was held at Yoshiyuki's daughter's stunning private residence in Kahala across the street from the beach.
Ever since I started shooting weddings 4 years ago Kristin Kato, the owner of A Cake Life, has been one of the people who I've enjoyed running into on many a random occasion. She's just super cute and man oh man can she make some awesome cakes!! Anyhow you don't have to take my word for it, just check out the awesomeness she whipped up for her sisters bridal shower:
